Future Programs
The Friends are planning new ways Wunderlich visitors can enjoy the beauty and ambiance of the restored stable.
Children’s Educational Programs
Children will be introduced to the lively history of the mid Peninsula through school field trips developed by the San Mateo County Historical Association. The colorful background of the Folger family as early gold rush prospectors, entrepreuneurs, inventors, and landed gentry will add to the stable's narrative. The refurbished Carriage Room and carriages will provide a visual demonstration of transportation from that era. Local educators have confirmed the importance of these out-of-classroom experiences to their students. We expect at least 1200 students will participate in these hands-on experiences each year.
Children’s Equestrian Programs
- Girl and Boy Scout Merit Badge activities
- 4H Club horse projects
- Meet the Horse, and introduction to horsemanship
Historic and Architectural Tours for Adults
Visitors will tour the Stable, the Carriage House and other historic buildings on the site and learn about the history of the property from Mexican land grant to County Park and the the evolution of local transportation on the Peninsula. On display in the refurbished Carriage Room will be carriages on loan from the San Mateo County Historical Association.
Expansion of Community Participation
Opportunities will be available for students to fulfill community service hours, for docents to lead architectural and historic tours and for people to host open stable hours.
Horse Boarding
The Folger Estate Stable is a working stable. Public horse boarding will continue a century old tradition at the stable.
