Community Participation
There are many opportunities for you to practice environmental stewardship at Huddart and Wunderlich. For more information on volunteer options select one of the items below or call Daran Reinholm at 650-851-2660 (Daran@parksupport.org).
Become a Docent
Docents lead the environmental education programs for children and scheduled tours of the historic Folger Stable.
Crew Leaders
Friends' volunteers help maintain the trails throughout the year, assist the rangers with specific duties, and lead groups participating in community trail days.
Community Trail Days
Each spring and fall the park rangers identify trails that need special attention. With the extremely wet weather this year, there will be lots to do. We coordinate community volunteers to work alongside the rangers to complete the tasks. We also host a celebration of our collective efforts with a delicious BBQ.
AIDS Memorial Grove
Within Huddart Park, there is a lovely serene grove of redwoods perfect for meditating and remembering loved ones who are no longer with us. Originally funded by a private donation, the Friends maintain the native plantings, replant young trees, clear dead wood after winter storms, and clean the signs and benches.
Help Mother Nature
Nature lovers of all ages can get close to the earth removing invasive non-native plants while planting and nurturing native species with extra watering. Our Water Babies program even lets little ones play an important role.
